1- While the conventional Hindu school of astrology is based on many voluminous works by         our rishis and munis ; the Lal Kitaab is a single treatise written in old Urdu , with no                   mention of authorship. There are many theories on the reasons behind the author                     choosing    to stay anonymous. The most popular of these theories being that perhaps due       to Divine instruction, the author was not interested in taking credit for the work.

     Coming back to astrology, the most famous and perhaps the most respected of the works         it is based on is the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra , written by the great sage Maharishi           Parashara. In view of this, the conventional Hindu school of astrology is frequently and             justifiably referred to as the Parashari system of astrology.

2- The Parashari system is one of pure astrology and refrains from even mentioning other             methods of divination (foretelling) such as numerology and palmistry. This could be                   understood in light of the fact that astrology, palmistry and numerology have progressed in 

     Indian sub-continent as independent, unrelated and hence competitive sciences.

     In contrast, the Lal Kitaab is a treatise on astro-palmistry ; astrology and palmistry                     complement and supplement each other instead of competing and deleting each other.

For example, in Lal Kitaab 

     

     if the sun is in the second house of a native’s horoscope, he must possess a certain kind         of sun-line in his palm. Since the hand is always available, the horoscope can be verified         and even cast on the basis of the hand’s print, called a palmoscope, for brevity.

3-  Parashar Hora 

      the determining inputs for prediction are the the birth chart, the influencing periods                    or dasas as they are called and the transit movement of planets called the gochar . Indian        astrology is unique in having the dasasystem, the most popular of them being                          the Vimsottari dasa system.

     The Lal Kitaab refers only to the birth chart, and its own unique number chart to cast                  the Lal Kitaab varshphal (literally means yearly fruit) or yearly chart of the native.                      Predictions are made on the basis of the birth and the yearly chart cast. Needless to                mention, Lal Kitaab does not believe in the dasas and the gochar.

4    While in the Parashari method, the Sun is regarded as the king of all planets and hence          the most important factor in the horoscope, in the Lal Kitaab , Jupiter or Deva Guru                  Bhrispati (the preceptor of all gods, including the Sun ) is given the supreme status.

5    Interpretations of placement of planets in rashis and houses vary greatly in both. For                example Jupiter in Cancer in the first house is regarded as excellent by Parashar pundits        while the Lal Kitaab considers this placement as average.

      Instead the best house for Jupiter is second and not the first, and Cancer is not the best          sign for it. Similarly Pisces for moon is bad and Scorpio for moon is good in Lal Kitaab ;             the last part will amaze many because in Parashari school moon is debilitated in Scorpio.

The remedial measures of the Lak Kitab (Red Book) for individual planets are given below. These remedies (upayas), solutions and tips should be performed only if the relevant planet is malefic (giving bad results) either in the natal chart or in the lal kitab varshkundli (annual chart). The remedies given here are effective in reducing the ill effects of the planets but according to the author of the Lal Kiatb, if a planet occupies its own house (Pucca Ghar), then its good or bad results can't be changed. In other words, remedies in such cases will not be effective. All remedies are to be performed from sun rise to sunset. Do not perform all remedies (upayas) in one go or on one day.

(SurRemedies for Sunya)

1- Begin any important work after eating sweet and then drinking water.
2- Do not accept anything in charity.
3- Worship Lord Vishnu.
4- Throw a copper coin in flowing water of a river.
5- If there is marital discord or quarrels, put out fire with raw milk.

(Remedies for Moon Chandra)

1- Get blessings of your mother by touching her feet.
2- Receive some solid silver as gift from your mother.
3- Do not get married at the age of 24.
4- Do not do business dealing in milk and dairy products If moon is in Aries (Mesh) in your birth       chart.
5- If moon is in Scorpio (Vrishchak) in your birth chart, then keep some water in a bottle taken           gbbbbbfrom cremation ground in your home. When water dries up, repeat the process.
6- If moon is in Aquarius (Kumbha) in your horoscope then worship Lord Shiva. Chant the                 mantra  "Om Namau Shivaya."
7- Keep a glass full of water near your head at night when you sleep. Next morning, pour it into        the roots of an acacia (kikar) tree.

(Remedies for Mars Mangal)

1- Keep fast on Tuesdays and donate vermillion (sindoor) to Lord Hanuman.
2- Throw red lentil (masoor dal) or honey in the flowing waters of a river.
3- Help your brother(s) from time to time. Do not annoy them.
4- Give frequently red clothes to your sister or maternal aunt or niece.

(Remedies for Mercury Budha)

1- Give green colored bangles and clothes to eunuchs (hijras).
2- Throw a copper coin with a hole in it in a river.
3- Feed cows with green fodder or grass.
4- Donate a goat.
5- Do not accept or wear talismans (tabij).
6- Clean your teeth with alum (fitkari) daily.
7- Have your nose pierced for 100 days.
8- Wear copper coin in the neck.

(Remedies for Jupiter Guru)

1- Eat saffron (kesar).
2- Apply saffron on your navel (nabhi) and tongue in the morning after sunrise and bathing.
3- Apply saffron or turmeric paste on your forehead.
4- Do not cut or get a ficus reliiosa (peepal) tree cut. Show respect to it.
5- Put some saffron, some gold, some white grams, and turmeric in a yellow cloth. Tie it and give       the small bundle in a holy place or temple.
6- Give food to girls who are under nine.
7- Wear solid gold in your neck.
8- Do not keep large sized idols of gods and goddesses at home if Jupiter is in 7th house in your           natal chart.
9- Water a ficus religious (peepal ) tree for 43 days.

(Remedies for Venus Shukra)

1- Throw a blue flower in dirty water or drain for 43 days.
2- Use perfume, scent, cream, incense etc on Fridays.
3- Worship goddess Lakshmi.
4- Give curd, pure clarified butter (dhesi ghee) and camphor at holy place.
5- Donate a cow in charity.

(Remedies for Saturn Shani)

1- Feed crows for 43 days.
2- Pour mustard oil or alcohol on the ground (soil) in the morning after sunrise for 43 days.
3- Give baked bread (chapatis) with mustard oil applied on them to dogs and crows.
4- Donate iron.

 (Remedies for Rahu Dragon's Head)

1- If suffering from the ill effects malefic Rahu then throw barley (jaun) or wheat (400 gms) in a         river          or     canal (natural). (The water should be clean and flowing).
2- Give cooked red lentil (red masoor pulses) to your sweeper and or help him in other ways.
3- Eat in the kitchen when the kitchen fire is burning.
4 -Donate radish.
5 -Throw raw coal (kacha koyala) in the river if facing a lot of difficulties and obstacles.
6- Keep saunf or sugar in a red small bag under your pillow while sleeping.
7- Keep a silver square plate with you.
8- Bathe in sacred rivers or tanks.

(Remedies for Ketu Dragon's Tail)

1- Keep at home or feed a white and black dog (two colors only).
2- Give 100 chapattis (baked bread) to dogs.
3- Give / donate a cow (milk giving) and sesame seeds in charity.
4- Apply saffron (kesar) on your forehead.
5- Wear gold preferably in your ears.
6- Give white and black blanket made of wool in a religous place or temple.

The second chapter of Lal Kitab, termed as the wonder Book of Astrology, details the effects of Sun in various houses along with the remedies.

The sun, eulogized by the author of the Lal Kitab as Vishnu, the lord of presentation, is the father of our solar system, around which all planets resolve. The power of light in the sky, the temperature of the earth, the power of presentation and progress are represented by the sun. His presence means the "day" and absence means the "night". The soul in human body and the power of rendering bodily services to others have also been referred to the Sun - a royal planet of power, authority and finances.

The Sun provides good results if placed in houses 1 to 5,8,9,11 and 12. The 6th, 7th, and 10th are bad houses for the Sun. The Moon, the Jupiter and the Mars are the planets friendly to the Sun, where the Saturn, Venus, Rahu and Ketu are enemies. The first is the Puccka Ghar, the permanent house and the house of exaltation of the Sun, whereas the 7th house is in the house of debilitation. The Mars in the 6th and Ketu in the 1st house make the Sun produce results of an exalted planet. If the Sun is exalted or placed in an auspicious house of a person's horoscope he is bound to rise higher and higher in power and position. If obstacles are created against him by a person that person is bound to meet his doom. Much better results are proposed if the Sun is in conjunction with Mercury.

The Sun gives adverse effects on the things associated with the house in which he is placed. Consequently in the Ist house he will create health problems for the native. In the 2nd house he will affect the family and its comforts absolutely adversely.

The sun in the 6th house will not prove good for the sisters and daughters of the native. In the 7th he will face obstacles in the comforts of the wife. The Sun of the 8th house will save the native from death in critical situations.

The sun of the 9th house will destroy the comforts of the forefathers and perhaps deprive the native of their properties. In the 10th, the sun will affect the father adversely. Sun in 1st House

Benefit :

(1) The native will be fond of constructing religious buildings and digging of wells for public        purposes. Malefic :

The native's father may die in early childhood. Having sex in the day time will make the wife constantly ill and have infection of tuberculosis if Venus is placed in the 7th house. Sun in 2nd house

Malefic :

(1) The Sun will affect very adversely the things and relatives associated with the planets          inimical to the Sun i.e., wife, wealth, widows, cows, taste, mother etc. Disputes                  regarding wealth property and wife will spoil the native.
(2) Never accept donations if the Moon is placed in the 8th house and the Sun in the 2nd            house is not auspicious; otherwise the native will be destroyed altogether.
(3) The Sun in the 2nd house, Mars in the 1st and Moon in the 12th house make the native's        condition critical and pathetic in every manner.
(4) Mars in the 8th house makes the native extremely greedy if the Sun in the 2nd house is         inauspicious.

Remedial Measures :

(1) Donate coconut, mustard oil and almonds to religious places of worship.
(2) Manage to avoid disputes involving wealth, property and ladies.
(3) Avoid accepting donations, specially rice, silver and milk.

Sun in 3rd House

Benefic :

(1) The native will be rich, self-dependant and having younger brothers.
(2) He will be blessed with divine grace and will earn profits intellectual by pursuits.
(3) He will be interested in astrology and mathematics.

Malefic :

(1) If the Sun is not auspicious in the 3rd house and the Moon is also not auspicious in the           horoscope, there will be daylight robbery or theft in the native's house.
(2) If the 9th house is afflicted, the forefathers would have been poor. If the 1st house is           afflicted, the neighbours of the native will be destroyed.

Remedial Measures :

(1) Obtain blessings of the mother by keeping her happy.
(2) Serve others with rice or milk.
(3) Practice good conduct and avoid evil deeds.

Sun in 4th House

Benefic :

(1) The native will be wise, kind and a good administrator. He will have constant source of income. He will leave a legacy of great riches for his off springs after death.
(2) If the Moon is with the Sun in the 4th house, the native will earn great profit through           certain new researches.
(3) The Mercury in the 10th or 4th house will make such a native a renowned trader.
(4) If Jupiter is also with the Sun in the 4th house, the native will make good profits                 through gold and silver trade.

Malefic :

(1) The native becomes greedy, inclined to commit theft and likes to harm others. This              tendency ultimately produces very bad results.
(2) If the Saturn is placed in the 7th house he becomes victimised by night blindness.
(3) If the Sun is inauspicious in the 7th house and mars is placed in the 10th house, the              native's eye will become seriously defective, but his fortunes will not dwindle.
(4) The native will become impotent if the Sun in the 4th is inauspicious and the Moon is            placed in the 1st or 2nd house, the Venus is in the 5th and Saturn is in the 7th house.

Remedial Measures :

(1) Distribute alms and food to the needy people.
(2) Do not take up business associated with iron and wood.
(3) Business associated with gold, silver, cloth will give very good results.

Sun in 5th house

Benefic :

(1) The progress and prosperity of family and children will be assured. If the Mars is placed       in the 1st or 8th house and Rahu, Ketu, Saturn are placed in 9th and 12th houses, the           native will lead king's life.
(2) If in 5th house placed with any planet inimical to sun, the native will be bestowed hour       by the government everywhere.
(3) If Jupiter is placed in 9th or 12th house, the enemies will be destroyed, but this                   position will not be good for children of the native.

Malefic :

(1) If the Sun in the 5th is inauspicious and Jupiter is in 10th, the wife of the native will die       and wives in subsequent marriages will also die
(2) If the sun in the 5th house is inauspicious and Saturn is placed in 3rd, sons of the native       will die.

(1) Do not delay in having a child.

(2) Build your kitchen in the eastern portion of your house.
(3) Drop a lit the quantity of mustard oil on the ground continuously for 43 days.

Sun in 6th House

Benefic :

(1) Native will be lucky, prone to anger, will have beautiful spouse and will benefit from           that government.
(2) If Sun is in the 6th house and Moon, Mars and Jupiter in the 2nd house, following                  tradition will be beneficial.
(3) If sun is in 6th house and Ketu in 1st or 7th house then the native will have a son and            after the 48th year great fortune will follow.

Malefic :

(1) The native's son and maternal family will face bad times. Will also affect native health         adversely.
(2) If there is a no planet in the 2nd house, the native will get a government job in the             22nd  year of his life.
(3) If Mars is placed in the 10th house the native's sons will die one after the other.

Remedial Measures :

Malefic :

Diseases caused by Different planets in the Eighth House

Sun in the 8th - 

Causes high fever, eye sight defects, urinary tract infections. palpitations and migraine. Sun in the Eighth is not at all desirable for Health.

Moon in the 8th -

 In the EIghth House, Moon causes mental tension, as he rules the Psyche ( Mano Matharo Sheetharashmi ). Generally not conducive to good health, Luna can cause Diarrohea.

Mars in the 8th -

 Tumors, boils, accidents, operations are all caused by Mars. He is the planet of Surgery. Mental aberrations are also caused by him, if he be conjunct with the Moon. Eighth Mars makes one over-sexed.

The North Node -

 

Ulcers are caused by this shadowy planet. Eighth Rahu can create immense mental tension, as he will not allow mental peace to reign supreme. For females, he will create incompatibility of temperament with spouse and sometimes widowhood.

Jupiter in the 8th -

 Although he is the least harmful planet in the House of Death, it causes 

pancreatic diseseas and jaundice. He may give luck and a regal life, but sleeping sickness, gall bladder disease are also caused.

Saturn in the 8th

 is extolled for longevity ( Ashtamasthe Sani Ista Thasyal ). But a long suffering life is indicated, as Saturn can give immense sorrow. There will be a yearning for getting away from it all. Paralysis and tumors caused by this melancholy planet become chronic.

Mercury in the House of Death

 

causes paralysis and nervous diseases. There may be longivity due to the principle that a benefic increases longevity when posited in the Eighth, but a weak constitution will be conferred.

South Node in the Eighth

 

causes ulcers and accidents. Mental fluctuations, quarrels with spouse, operations in the region of the sex organs. Causes pain and discomfort. If posited with Moon, suicidal tendencies.

Venus in the 8th
